Tigers on July 8th SMP Racing team exited the LMP1 group of the 2019-20 WEC World Endurance Championship.
The Russian team has previously indicated that it will continue to use BR Engineering's two BR1-AER cars to participate in the new season. They were also on the temporary entry list announced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last month.
However, just two weeks before the start of the new season in Barcelona, SMP Racing announced that it will not participate in the WEC 2019-20 season.
With the departure of the SMP Racing team, only the Toyotas will be left in the WEC LMP1 team next season, and the Rebellion Racing and Team LNT teams will have a total of six cars.
Team owner Boris Rothenberg (Boris has achieved the best results.)
The SMP Racing team entered the WEC LMP1 team in the 2018-19 season and won the podium for a total of five times throughout the year, including the third in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It is reported that the reason for the team to opt out of the WEC LMP1 group is that the non-hybrid car in this group cannot challenge Toyota, although the game will make multiple EoT technology balance adjustments for this situation. Moreover, some media have learned that the team has not much confidence in the balance system of the LMP1 team next season.Yao Fan)xx
